The Note Coffee

Thought Pondered: Something happens when you travel alone. The fears that were once silenced amongst the noise, and the uncertainties that cloud your thoughts, all become highlighted words on a page of huge text book. If you neglect to study, you fail the test. If you choose to analyze the text, your understanding of the subject becomes easier to process and in turn giving you a greater understanding to the most important question WHY?

It was my first full day in Hanoi, Vietnam, an interestingly busy city flooded with motorbikes coming at you from every direction. It’s midday and after a visit to the Temple of Literature, around 4:30pm, I decided it was a perfect time to stop and have dessert. So I sat down and found a list of places that were recommended for their desserts, according to TripAdvisor. The list consisted of seventy-seven places, however to keep the vetting process simple I chose the first one on the list called ‘The Note Coffee’. I began my journey walking across town for about twenty minutes.

There were several times when I wanted to turn around, because it seemed twenty minutes too far away from where I was and then back to my hostel. It’s not that I don’t like to walk, it’s that I was not quite familiar with walking around the streets of Hanoi by myself after sunset. My thoughts kept flowing, but my feet kept walking in the same direction. I know that the moment I totally give into staying in my comfort zone, it will change the entire trajectory of this journey and that’s one thing I’m not willing to sacrifice.

When I arrived to the coffee shop I opted to have the ‘Egg Coffee’ rather than a pastry, something I highly recommend. I waited for my coffee in the third floor seating area, where I found the room covered in little notes left by customers from around the world. After five minutes of settling in, my coffee arrives with a note attached and it read “Always believe that something wonderful is about to happen”.

I don’t know what else could have caught my attention in that moment, the same way the words on that note did. I always take little messages and moments like this one, as a special reminder to me from God that He’s with me every step of the way. It may sound like a cliché to you, but the reality of it all is that HE is, and you can choose to believe it or not. I personally choose to believe it because I don’t want to miss out on living life in the abundance; hearing, doing, believing, seeing, being and evolving into all that HE’s created me to be. #DestinyImMotion

So whenever you’re in Hanoi, do make sure you stop by The Note Coffee. I look forward to hearing what reminder is in store for you. ?

Don’t forget to leave a note for others to read when they visit.

Lots of Luv,
Samiyyah
